"Defining Quality in Oral Health Care"
October 15 & 16, 2009 - San Jose, CA
In 2009, Institute for Oral Health is taking on the challenge of defining quality within our dental delivery system. Our goal is to identify areas in which dentistry can help to improve the delivery of care as well as partner with all of health care for the benefit of the patient.
Our collaborative research in focus groups and our annual conference will center on the following topics:
- Use of Evidence-Based Care — We will examine evidence-based models that
provide effective, efficient, and patient-centered
care, and ways to promote consistency in the
use of procedures.
- Access to Quality Care — We will explore practice models that reach the
underserved, as well as new legislation and
state and federal policy changes that help
improve access to care.
- Development of Metrics — We will look at ways to develop metrics for
evidence-based treatment protocols that are
cost effective and support long term health.
- Prevention Through Awareness — We will promote ways to increase and improve
patient education on the links between oral and
systemic health, and the consequences of
inadequate dental care.
