Oral Health in Healthcare Reform

In 2010, Institute for Oral Health is stepping up to rally people across the dental profession and healthcare industry to develop strategies and solutions to help ensure that the vital oral health needs of all Americans is strongly represented in healthcare reform.

IOH will continue to collaborate with the nation's leading experts, hosting focus groups in various locations, and our 5th annual national conference to be held October 28 & 29, 2010 at the FireSky Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona.

"For too long, the dire unmet oral health needs of a growing number of Americans unable to access dental care have been ignored due to their economic status, geographic location or a myriad of other barriers to care.

The ADA believes that a relatively small government investment in three areas can make a significant improvement in the oral health of Americans:

- Mend the tattered Medicaid safety net by improving the dental Medicaid program.
- Adequately fund proven oral disease prevention and wellness programs.
- Rebuild the dental public health infrastructure, which includes recruiting and retaining dentists who are competent in public health practice."
